Who reads what?

There is a new site out which has special software to see where people will read on your site. See Eyetools site for their funky images

They're basically saying that you shouldn't have really wide paragraphs of text on a site. Like this page for example. The reason a re to do with how you read and in general computer screens show too much for the eye to comfortably read. Think about a book. Yes a book goes nearly edge to edge but you don't often get word dense books in large format.

Also use subheadings.

By using subheadings you make it easier for people to read what you've written.

See what I mean?

If you follow a few simple rules then you can get the important bits of your site read.

Their examples showed the eye concentrated on the upper left area of the site more. see the zen examples

and didn't read much at the bottom of the page. That's not to say people won't read whats at the bottom if they're looking for something specific. We assume that some people won't bother scrolling to the bottom if they get bored before the end of the first page full too.

Subheadings drawn you down the page

Oh yes they do! They keep you going ... well thats the theory anyway.

Anyway Its available if you'd like it run on your site. Bit dear though we thought.

If you have a graphics program you can fake you own results.
